Cybersecurity Certification Prep with a Personal Assistant

Cybersecurity certifications help you prove your skills, meet job requirements and plan a clear career path – from your first security role to leadership. The right choice depends on whether you want to defend, attack, audit, manage or secure the cloud.

FoxyCert prepares you for leading cybersecurity certs with a personal 1-to-1 assistant on Telegram. One package per exam, all services included until you pass, and you always sit your own exam.

Mapping cybersecurity certifications to your career

  • Starting out: CompTIA Security+ builds a vendor-neutral foundation in threats, architecture, operations and governance.
  • Offensive security: CEH gives a broad overview of ethical hacking; OSCP+ is a demanding hands-on penetration testing exam.
  • Management and leadership: CISSP for broad senior roles; CISM for security programme management.
  • Audit and assurance: CISA for IT audit and control.
  • Cloud security: CCSK for vendor-neutral cloud security knowledge, alongside cloud provider security certifications.

Senior credentials: CISSP, CISM and CISA

CISSP (ISC2) covers eight domains from security and risk management to software development security and uses an adaptive exam in English. Full certification requires five years of relevant experience, with an Associate route for those still building it.

CISM (ISACA) focuses on governance, risk, programme and incident management, and suits people who run security teams.

CISA (ISACA) is the leading IT audit credential, focusing on audit process, governance, systems and protection of information assets.

All three have experience requirements and continuing education rules. Check the official handbooks for current details.

Hands-on and technical certifications

Security+ (CompTIA) mixes multiple-choice and performance-based questions and has no mandatory prerequisites.

CEH (EC-Council) covers reconnaissance through to cloud and IoT attacks, with an optional practical exam.

OSCP+ (OffSec) follows the PEN-200 course and requires you to compromise machines in a timed practical exam and submit a professional report. Since late 2024 the OSCP+ designation carries an expiry period, so check OffSec's current policy.

CCSK (Cloud Security Alliance) is a vendor-neutral cloud security knowledge certificate based on CSA guidance, delivered as an online exam.

All of these exams evolve, so confirm current formats with the issuing body.

Newer specialisms: AI and cloud native security

Security is expanding into new areas. ISACA's AAISM targets AI security management for CISM and CISSP holders, while the Linux Foundation's CKS validates Kubernetes security skills for CKA holders. Privacy credentials such as the CIPP complement security knowledge for roles that handle personal data.

How to prepare for a cybersecurity certification

  1. Pick one certification at a time and set a realistic exam date.
  2. Study from the official outline and track your confidence domain by domain.
  3. Practise legally and safely in your own labs or approved platforms – never test systems without permission.
  4. Learn the exam's mindset: managerial exams reward risk-based judgement, technical exams reward accurate execution.
  5. Use timed practice in the final weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Which cybersecurity certification should I get first?

CompTIA Security+ is a common first certification. If you already work in IT, it can be followed by CEH, CySA+ or cloud security credentials before senior certifications such as CISSP or CISM.

Is CISSP or CISM better?

CISSP is broader and suits many senior technical and management roles; CISM is focused on running a security programme. Your career goals should decide.

Are cybersecurity certifications worth it in 2026?

Security roles remain in demand, and certifications are frequently required in job adverts and contracts. They are most valuable alongside hands-on experience.

Is OSCP+ harder than CEH?

Most people find OSCP+ considerably harder because it is a long practical exam where you must compromise systems and write a report, whereas the CEH knowledge exam is multiple choice.

How long does it take to get a cybersecurity certification?

Security+ often takes six to ten weeks of part-time study; CISSP or OSCP+ can take several months, depending on experience.
