ISACA AAISM AI Security Exam Prep with Personal Coaching
The ISACA Advanced in AI Security Management (AAISM) credential is designed for experienced security leaders who need to secure AI systems and manage AI-related risk. It builds on established security management knowledge and extends it to AI.
FoxyCert helps you prepare for AAISM with a personal 1-to-1 assistant on Telegram. One package, all services included until you pass, and you always take the exam yourself.
What is AAISM and who is it for?
AAISM is one of ISACA's newer AI credentials, launched in 2025. It is aimed at security managers, CISOs, security architects and risk leaders who already hold a recognised security management certification and now oversee AI adoption in their organisations.
It focuses on how to govern, assess and control AI from a security perspective: model and data risks, AI-specific threats, vendor AI, and the controls needed across the AI life cycle.
AAISM exam format and domains
ISACA has described the AAISM exam as roughly 90 multiple-choice questions over about two and a half hours. The content is organised into three domains:
- AI Governance and Program Management – policies, roles, standards and oversight of AI security
- AI Risk and Opportunity Management – identifying, assessing and treating AI risks while enabling business value
- AI Technologies and Controls – AI architectures, threats such as prompt injection and data poisoning, and technical and operational controls
As a new certification, its details may be refined. Check the current AAISM exam content outline and candidate guide on the ISACA website.
AAISM prerequisites
At the time of writing, candidates must hold an active CISM or CISSP to earn AAISM. This reflects its advanced level: it assumes you already understand security governance and programme management. Confirm the current eligibility rules, fees and CPE requirements with ISACA.
How to prepare for AAISM
- Fill the AI knowledge gap: learn how machine learning and generative AI systems are built, trained and deployed.
- Study AI-specific threats and how they map to familiar security controls.
- Connect to frameworks such as the NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001 and relevant regulation.
- Apply the ISACA mindset: answers usually prioritise governance, risk appetite and business alignment.
- Practise scenario questions under timed conditions.
Most experienced security managers prepare in 4–8 weeks.

Frequently asked questions
Who can take the ISACA AAISM exam?
It is designed for holders of an active CISM or CISSP. Check ISACA's current eligibility rules before registering.
Is AAISM hard?
For experienced security managers, the challenge is usually the AI technology content rather than the management concepts. Structured study of AI systems and threats closes that gap.
How long does it take to study for AAISM?
Many candidates prepare in four to eight weeks, depending on how familiar they already are with AI and machine learning.
Is AAISM worth it in 2026?
As organisations deploy AI widely, security leaders who can manage AI risk are in demand. AAISM is a way to show that specialisation on top of an established credential.
What is the difference between AAISM and AAIA?
AAISM is for security managers and builds on CISM or CISSP. AAIA is ISACA's AI audit credential and builds on CISA or similar audit qualifications.
