CKA Kubernetes Exam Prep with Personal 1-to-1 Coaching
The Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), run by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation and The Linux Foundation, proves you can install, configure, run and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters. It is entirely hands-on: you solve real tasks on live clusters from the command line.
FoxyCert helps you prepare for the CKA with a personal 1-to-1 assistant on Telegram. One package, all services included until you pass, and you take the exam yourself.
What is the CKA and who is it for?
The CKA suits DevOps engineers, platform and site reliability engineers, cloud engineers and system administrators who run containerised workloads. It is one of the most respected cloud native certifications because it tests what you can do, not what you can recognise in a list of options.
It sits alongside the CKAD (for application developers) and the CKS (for Kubernetes security, which requires an active CKA).
CKA exam format and curriculum
The CKA is an online, remotely proctored, performance-based exam of around two hours. You complete a set of practical tasks across several clusters, and the passing score has been 66%. During the exam you can typically use the official Kubernetes documentation. The curriculum, refreshed in 2025, covers areas such as:
- Troubleshooting – clusters, nodes, components and networking (the heaviest area)
- Cluster architecture, installation and configuration – kubeadm, RBAC, Helm and Kustomize
- Services and networking – Services, Ingress, Gateway API, network policies and CoreDNS
- Workloads and scheduling – Deployments, ConfigMaps, Secrets, autoscaling and scheduling
- Storage – storage classes, persistent volumes and claims
The curriculum follows recent Kubernetes releases. Check the current CKA curriculum, candidate handbook and retake policy on The Linux Foundation website.
Requirements
There are no formal prerequisites, but you should be comfortable with Linux, the command line and container basics before you start. Exam purchases have usually included a free retake and access to an exam simulator, and certification validity has been two years. Confirm current terms when you register, as policies change.
How to prepare: a CKA study plan
- Get fluent with kubectl – imperative commands, dry-run YAML generation and fast editing save precious minutes.
- Build clusters yourself with kubeadm in virtual machines so installation and upgrades feel routine.
- Practise troubleshooting daily: break things on purpose and fix them.
- Learn to navigate the docs quickly so you can find examples under time pressure.
- Run timed mock exams and practise skipping and returning to hard tasks.
Many candidates need 6–10 weeks of hands-on study.
How FoxyCert's 1-to-1 assistant helps
Your personal assistant on Telegram builds a lab-first plan, sets practical challenges, explains why a pod is stuck or a Service has no endpoints, and reviews your mock exam performance. All services stay included until you pass, and you sit your own exam.
Frequently asked questions
Is the CKA exam hard?
It is demanding because it is practical and timed. Candidates who practise regularly on real clusters and know kubectl shortcuts usually find the time pressure the main challenge.
How long does it take to prepare for the CKA?
Six to ten weeks of regular hands-on practice is common. People who already run Kubernetes at work may need less.
CKA or CKAD: which should I take first?
Administrators and platform engineers usually start with CKA; developers deploying applications often start with CKAD. The CKS requires an active CKA.
Can I use documentation during the CKA exam?
Typically yes, the official Kubernetes documentation is allowed. Check the current candidate handbook for exactly which resources are permitted.
Is the CKA worth it in 2026?
Kubernetes remains central to cloud native platforms, and the hands-on nature of the CKA makes it a credible signal of real skill.
